About the Book

Red Magic Shag is the story of one unfortunate accountant who is forced to confront everything he believes about himself when a ratty old piece of red shag carpeting he purchased at a yard sale suddenly reveals that it's magic and whisks him away on a crazy adventure in a far-off land. On his journey, the man will face his worst fears - plus a few random fears he didn't know he had - on his way to finding the grandest treasure of his life. He also defies a king, falls in love with a princess, and accidentally masquerades as a great wizard. And you thought doing your taxes was fun! Red Magic Shag - it's the ride!

Included as a bonus is the short story, Blue Dragon Fandango, the tragic tale of a clash between a community of people and the tribe of dragons in whose shadow they live. Told through the eyes of the one man who stands between them, this story asks a simple question: Are you worthy to join the dance?

About the Author

Bart Downey was born in California in 1970, and has been a writer his whole life. He's also been a lot of other things, such as a Marine Corps ejection seat mechanic, a pizza delivery guy, a steak delivery guy, a T.V. salesman, a factory worker, a retail manager, a furniture builder, an evil wizard, and a burger-flipper. He's also been – and still is – a father to five wonderful kids, a collector of wolf art and Star Wars toys, and an avid video game junkie. He lives in a small apartment in Central Wisconsin, sometimes alone, sometimes with his kids, but all the time with these crazy people running around inside his head.
Which is why he writes.
