About the Book

Judge Alva Cason, "AC," was never really bored in his work. There was plenty of courtroom drama to prevent that. He did, though, have the ability to remain detached and not personally involved in his cases which, in turn, led to a certain amount of drudgery. He never suspected a routine dependency case would lead to his heated romance with a sensuous case worker, rumors of baby buying, improper communications by one of his fellow judges, and finally an attempt at coercion on a case he was handling involving millions of dollars.

The story takes place in the Eight Judicial Circuit of Florida where the author has spent his entire career as a lawyer and judge. The reader will be taken behind the bench into the private world of judges. Lawyers, both honest and sincere and sad and bumbling are viewed from the judge's perspective. The charming and wonderful landscape of northern Florida is presented as the characters attempt to unravel the unusual events they are facing.

About the Author

Nath Doughtie practiced law in Gainesville, FL until 1979 when he was elected to the bench as an Alachua County, Florida, Judge. In 1987 he was elected as a circuit court judge for the Eighth Judicial Circuit where he handled cases in every division of the court throughout six counties in north Florida. He left the bench in 2002 and divides his time between Gainesville and Atlantic Beach, Florida.

During his legal career he served on the Florida Bar Board of Governors, The Florida Sentencing Guidelines Commission, the Supreme Court Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee , and participated in numerous other legal activates.
