About the Book

The saga of the Brownelle family as they seek to establish a sawmill empire in the Great Northeast. Follow the steps of Amos Brownelle, the founder, from a poor potato farmer in upstate Maine to the big city of Charliton and finally to the little town of Timbercreek where his empire had its feeble beginnings.

Watch as he finds his dream early in life, only to have those around him try to steal it away. Will he listen to them and give up? How can a poor farmer become the leading lumber tycoon in America? Follow his adventures as he leaves home to pursue the dream no one believes can be attained.

About the Author

James Brown’s father had a dream of owning his own sawmill. Unlike Amos in this story, he built his business on Biblical principles of honesty and fairness. The author has spent the last 27 years working at that sawmill with his dad. His father had a heart attack and knew he needed to turn the reins over to his son. James struggled for five years to make the mill work, but eventually realized that the sawmill was not his dream.

A fire that completely destroyed the sawmill got James to thinking about the future. It was from the ashes of that fire, that he discovered his dream of being an author. This novel, the first in a series of three about a sawmill empire, is a product of that fire and the 27 years of working at the mill. James has discovered that there is indeed a seed of equal or greater opportunity in every storm or disaster.
