About the Book
Jordan's Stormy Banks is ancient Bible fiction based on the Old Testament's account of God's covenant relationship with Israel's founding fathers. Beginning with Abraham, the story follows the chronology of the first six books of the Bible and includes all of Israel's patriarchs from Abraham through Joshua.
Abraham and his family meet strong resistance when they settle in the land of the Canaanites. They are tempted by the foreign gods of Canaanite worship, often to the extent of disobedience. This causes the wrath of God to fall upon the patriarchs. The story reveals how they lost the promised land and were banished to slavery in Egypt. After many years of persecution, they escape under the leadership of Moses, wandered in the wilderness four decades, and returned to recapture Canaan with Joshua leading their military forces.
There are numerous parenthetical Bible references throughout the story. These are inserted to provide a further source of reference for the reader desiring to research the event or quotation in the Bible. Biblical quotations in the story are in many instances paraphrased, thus no particular translation of the Bible has been used as a reference for this work.
Commentaries are included throughout the book regarding God and his reaction to the human behavior in the story. These are intended to enlighten the reader that not only then, but now, loving God, having faith in Him, and being obedient, is the only way to live a life of peace, joy, and prosperity.
Enjoy this fast moving story, realizing that you are reading a different and exciting version of a tale that has been told and taught throughout the centuries.
