About the Book

A colourful collection of over a hundred insightful poems based on observations and experiences in the natural world of Canada's West Coast temperate rainforests.

They feature the fauna, flora, and landscapes of this unique ecosystem in poetic and philosophical language by the author's passion for nature, adventure, world travel, history, and philosophy.

Nature and her environments have always fostered and influenced human development and culture; inspiring the intellectual ,artistic, and spiritual aspirations of humans from earliest times. These poems, therefore, include historical events and places, First Nations' cultures and legends, as well as universal philosophical and political musings and concepts.

Above all this collection of poems glorify the natural world: its exquisite, apparent and latent, beauties; its seemingly simple but complex and arcane processes; and its dark, secret mysteries.

The poems are apt to stir thought, tickle the imagination, and delight the heart.

About the Author

The author is an avid outdoorsman, nature enthusiast, world traveller, adventurer, photographer, and poet. Now a retired Environmental Health Officer, he has had a colourful past as a lumberjack, businessman, politician, and newspaper columnist.

He has lived on Canada's West Coast for over twenty years, and currently resides in Port Hardy BC with his favorite Labrador Retriever, Ellye-Mae.
