About the Book
On a Desperate Journey compiles data from 160 women and girls about their struggles with weight, food and body image. It chronicles their stories throughout the tapestry of wisdom provided by Mia Sutherland, who has worked with women in the fitness industry for over 20 years. The book peels away the layers of the complex issue of dieting and guides women through the steps necessary to get off the diet treadmill. It speaks frankly about the misguided information presented through the media and through the diet industry and how it is used to manipulate women into believing the next quick fix. This is not another diet book, it is a how to book and a how come book. By the end of this book, women will be motivated and inspired to establish permanent life-style changes in order to improve the quality of their life and to avoid teaching their daughters the same disastrous habits that they have learned and practiced. There are no contracts, no gimmicks, no DVD's, no weight loss prayers, no pre-packaged food and no meal replacements. This book will give women everything they need to know and understand to start living life free of dieting.
