About the Book
Jonas Davis will spark the imagination of the teenager who sits in the classroom daydreaming of an escape from reality. How exciting it would be to flee from the classroom and those dangling participles to a fun-fun-fun week away from home where he might meet the beautiful Cynthia, or she, her knight in shining armour who devestated the heart and banishes reason to the castle's cold, dark, dank dungeon.
Jonas Davis leaves Watts in L.A. to visit his grandparents in Tampa, FLA. Clavin, his cousin, leaves Key West, FLA. and meets Jonas in Tampa.
Events evolve which lead Jonas to meet Cynthia Hill. The daughter fo Edwin Hill, the principal of the Nathan Young Jr. H.S. (Middle School) in Tampa, FLA. Jonas ingratiates the principal who initially accepts him, then regrets the relationship, but subsequently acquieses to his duplicity.
Injun Jim predicts the events that play out for Calvin and Jonas. The dream's story is the the narrative in which Jonas reveals to Cynthia how he found his father and grandfather, and still does not taint her virtues.
The "Purple Dragon" locks horns with the law - has the law won?
Before returning to L.A., Jonas proves he has ethics and repays those he has deceived: the bartender, Cynthia, the cab driver and the principal who gets a special gift and a big surprise.
About the Author
The author's philosophies are: Before you start your journey, ask yourself, "Where am I going?", "Constancy of purpose is the secret of success", be "dedicated, determined, and disciplined", "out of every bad will come some good if you look for it" and "honesty is my only policy".
I, like "Jonas Davis", am a Walter Mitty type of person as are most of us from time to time. Every one of us, whether a student or adult, has his daydreams to elevate himself or herself out of the daily and and dreary routine of life. How daring it would be to be the ace pilot who obliterates the enemy ace pilot and flies home to a hero's welcome! I personally have stood beside General Custer at the Little Bug Horn, laughing as my six guns blazed. And as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday strode to meet the Clantons at the O.K. Corral, I was right there between them with my six guns slung low.
