About the Author

Son of a New Englander college professor whose other profession was Methodist "Local Preacher", raised in academia part of the time, in country parsonage and smaller town American with two much older brothers and a six years younger sister, a loving mother. We made it through the Big Depression, moved many times before I was graduated from high school. Two years of college preceded World War II. I volunteered for Army pilot training, fully expecting to fly in combat areas in Europe, Africa, or the Pacific.

The war ended, so did my, military flying career, I discovered that I wanted to become a Christian minister. Married, with two sons. I earned my BS degree at Trinity College. Then worked for my master's degree at Andover Newton Theological School while serving a Grafton, MA, student pastorate, the a fulltime Norwich, Connecticut, church. Two daughters joined the family, then I was commissioned in the Navy Chaplaincy. Formed unique Tri-service Chapel, Oppama, Japan, Navy, Marine, and army. Sent to sea on various ships of Destroyer Escort Squadron III, experienced exciting episodes including the shipwreck in the Eastern Carolines islands, then went to San Diego's Balboa Naval Hospital where my active duty ended, and hopefully future opened
