About the Book

"Wild Oats" was Huffman's first book and "Oats to Art" continues with stories of personal adventures with historical context he experienced along his way to The Fresno Bee's Central California newspaper. There he created political cartoons, celebrity portraits, characters, newspaper illustrations, courtroom drawings, police sketches and Huffman wrote and illustrated some feature stories.

"Oats to Art" reveals Huffman's observations and impressions on his journey through decades on a quest to create the best art he could in the time and space a newspaper allows. He took time to enjoy outdoor pleasures and to sketch and paint with some of the best artists in the Valley, travel, dive, fish, golf and write.

About the Author

Perry Leon Huffman left the small town of Avenal on a quest to get a college education with little money and poor grades. Oats to Art tells of his unusual quest through two colleges to graduate in four years to get his BA degree and a college education. Huffman shares his amusing adventures and his dream to succeed as an artist in a tough world of business. You can follow his thoughts as he finds his place to perform interesting work of value. He has chosen a good life of adventure, art and writing...striving for positive impacts.
