About the Book
Based on actual events of World War II, the book tells the story of American pilot 2d Lt. Tommy Kohlhaas following the crash landing of his B-17 Flying Fortress bomber in Germany and of his capture the next day. The narrative also describes the daily life of American aviators during WWII as they prepared for flights and dodged enemy fire during the dangerous bombing runs over Germany.
About the Author
Roger Stanley Johnson is a medical doctor, lawyer and World War II veteran having flown 35 missions as a bombardier and navigator in a B-17 Flying Fortress. He follows his motto of “DGB” or “Don’t Get Bored” as he pursues life’s adventures of flying airplanes, snow and water skiing, scuba diving, learning to play the piano as an adult, and writing his first book. Dr. Johnson and his wife, Cheryl, live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with their two loyal English setters, Maggie and Mollie. They have six children and seven grandchildren.
