About the Book

This is an autobiographical piece, focusing on aspects of Janine's life from childhood through to the present. Janine indicates the importance of Eminem to her understanding of herself and a growing awareness of a need for independence from those forces which previously held her back.

As well as appreciating Eminem as an artist, she views him as a role model. Her story is expressed simply and with conviction. A strong sense of Janine as a person comes through and this is a great strength of the writing.

Overall it is an engaging account of elements of her life-as well her interest in Eminem, she tells us something about her feelings regarding her family, an ex-boyfriend, friends and workmates. She feels let down by many of these people but rather than let this inhibit her Janine is getting on with her life, (with Eminem's help).

About the Author

Janine Swanson is 31 years old, and lives in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. Janine is the eldest of 4 children; she grew up quickly, taking on the mother's role to her 2 sisters and brothers as her father died at a very early age.

Janine has spent her life moving around different parts of Australia searching for her happiness but found it right back where she started, in Brisbane. She realized that happiness will find you, if you let it.

Janine soon found herself a successful career in optical dispensing which has been loyal to her for fifteen years and at times seemed to be the only thing getting her through some of the most difficult times in her life.

The book, Finding Eminem was developed out of the passion Janine has for the artist himself and the realization that Eminem's music helped her through some of those hard times. It wasn't long after she started writing, that the book became her personal diary.

Together with her love for the American culture, her interest in rap music and her weakness for Eminem, Finding Eminem became a closure to the battles she went through in her old life to make way for the new one. Janine has only now finally found her happiness.
