Ulster 1979 - Equinox tells the story of a covert operation against the South Armagh IRA and its immediate aftermath. It tells of in never-before-seen detail the methods employed during an assault and the processes used during subsequent investigations. The men and women caught up in the tangled web of Equinox show the human cost - Crawford, Kavannagh, Aiken, Mathieson, Colquhoun - they all pay the price.

London 1998 - the action comes up to date as events overwhelm the players. The scars may have healed on the surface but they run very deep. One man finds his involvement in the events of the past irreconcilable with the developments of the present. As his old masters become aware of his role as whistle blower it becomes increasingly clear that his future is anything but assured.

Equinox cannot be neatly pigeon-holed - in turns - a war story, a political thriller, a human drama - always engaging - never predictable.

About the Author

Neil Barratt worked in personnel training and management before returning to full-time writing as a free-lance journalist. He has written for national professional journals and has also turned his skills to television research. Equinox is his first novel.
