About the Book
The Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, JFK sending troops to Vietnam and Bobby hounding Jimmy Hoffa and chasing the mob. Events shortly followed by the assassination in Dallas, are all recent events just prior to my joining the Army. The Cold War is in full bloom and everyone is spying on everyone else, even allies spy on allies. No one trusts anyone and no agency shares information with any other agency, unless it is to their advantage. Mistrust and suspicion are the order of the day and the state of international affairs.
So follow this story of a young soldier, as circumstances beyond his control, pull him into the dark, dangerous, deceitful world of spies, lies, drugs and murder. A world where at times it is impossible to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys. A world where black and white, good and evil only depend on your personal point of view, and even then, they are not so far apart. A world where some men betray their countries for money, sex, drugs or to conceal some perverted secret, while others betray their countries because they are true believers. There are, indeed, true believers on all sides. Men and women willing to do what ever it takes or even give their lives for an idea or belief. Then there are the freelance professionals who make a living out of all the paranoia running loose in the world. Liars, cheats, blackmailers and thieves, all of them, whose only God is money.
I dedicate this book to the memory of John Fallon Roark, who gave his life, and all the true believers like him, who are now just stars on a wall.
