About the Book

On 15th June 1996, barrister Tom Flemming is involved in a motorcycle accident. Meanwhile, in Manchester, the IRA detonates the largest bomb ever exploded on the British mainland.

Tom wakes up in hospital to discover that his brother has been critically injured in the bomb and his girlfriend Tara O’Neil has disappeared. Subsequently, Tom is arrested in an early morning police raid, on suspicion of terrorist offences.

Then one night, out of the blue, Tara reappears, forcing both of them to confront her past, before walking voluntarily into a police station. Far from being the end, however, this was only the beginning of an audacious plan… Set in Manchester and Belfast, against the backdrop of the Northern Ireland peace process and the IRA campaign in Northern England, A Bold Deceiver is a gripping story about terrorism, loss and reconciliation.

About the Author

James grew up in South Manchester, before attending the University of Birmingham. He has a legal career, practising as a barrister in Manchester and writes in his spare time. He is married to Jo. A Bold Deceiver is his first novel.
