About the Book

Before I Was Eleven is the story of a little girl who was born and grew up during the Great Depression of the 1930's. The setting is in the rural south on her father's farm located in Stewart County, Tennessee, and Trigg County, Kentucky.

Accounts of tilling and living on the land without modern conveniences reveal how a lifestyle of simplicity can be rewarding.

Church activities and extended family gatherings, accentuated with humor, portray an attitude of satisfaction and enjoyment by the participant.

Memories of World War II happenings and related events bring a nostalgic and sobering conclusion to the book.
