About the Book

Echo Bane has traveled to Minneapolis where her husband has been transferred, in order to get a house and move her six children from Virginia. Roger Bane, an alcoholic and presently a workaholic, wishes the family would not even follow him. Not only does Echo bring her children but she brings Roger’s addict mother and disturbed sister with her.

Their oldest child runs away and the sisters get into trouble using drugs. Echo is beside herself to keep equilibrium in the family. Her life is a continuous reverberation of the same problems. She is afraid to leave Roger because she feels inadequate to support her family in the lifestyle they are use to. She tolerates physical and emotional abuse while she is also stuck in her religion upbringing that marriage is until death due them part.

The drug use in the family is progressive with Roger’s frequent black outs, the mother-in-law’s need to get lost in her drug habit and Echo’s daughter’s situations. Echo seeks help in different directions, which leads her to find her own assistance and support. After doing this, not much seems to alter the state of affairs. She needs to progress in her reactions and behavior. She has to change her attitudes about life in general.
