About the Author
Francis S. Mead FCO 1st Class, AKA Sherman F. Mead. Up through my Navy days my name was Francis Sherman Mead. Some years after my Navy experience I had my name officially changed to Sherman F. Mead; "reason", I had always been called Sherm or Sherman. When I went to work after the war and was signing signatures, it called for first name, middle initial and last name. I started getting telephone calls at home. My wife would answer the phone, and someone would ask if they could speak with Franky, Francis or Frank. My wife got tired of this and asked me to change my name. That's how it came about and was the reason why I changed it. I changed my name by putting the name Sherman first, changed Francis to initial F and my official name then became Sherman F. Mead. It took a little while to catch on, but it solved the problem.
