About the Book
Born in the western town of Cody, Wyoming, the Author thrived on tall tales fed to him by cowboys, mountain men and just plain old Òwind jammers.Ó His dream and ambition was to have similar adventures. In his attempt to do so, Steve got into many self induced predicaments. He became known as a combination of two characters: Tom Sawyer and Dennis the Menace. This, his first book, is a first hand account of some of his escapades. He writes about his ÒdazeÓ in the one-room school house, pranks on teachers, risky rides down river on ice blocks, summer fun and near drowning, encounters with bear, moose, skunks and squirrels, trials and close calls on the trap line, frustration with cattle and other domesticated livestock and pets, and his marriage and life on the homestead. You will be amused as you read about the family dog, a Saint Bernard, who adopted an unruly herd of pigs. There are myriads of other hilarious and breath taking experiences that will liven your day as you travel with Steve via his book. The book spans Steve's life from its beginning in 1937 to the present time. For those who love wild and foolhardy adventure stories, this is the book for you! The Author manages to bring humor into the most unpleasant circumstances.
About the Author
Stephen Lusch (1937 - ) lived in the historic town of Cody, Wyoming until he was fourteen. Part of that time it was on an 80 acre farm, once owned by Buffalo Bill Cody. He moved, with his parents and sisters, to northern Alberta in 1952. As the only boy in the family, and brother to three sisters, he more than made up for being the only son! With an impish grin and some innocent seeming ways, he managed to find trouble without looking for it. As one of his three sisters, I breathe a sigh of relief that our parents birthed only one boy. Had there been three ‰*ÏSteves‰**, and one girl, who knows what might have happened? Certainly ‰*Ïtriple trouble‰**! He was never a mean child; just a very mischievous one with a great imagination. Steve had a hard time setting down to any one trade, but tried many. Now, nearly seventy years of age, he has found what he enjoys most. That is telling stories from his own experiences to anyone who will listen. He is telling stories from his own experiences to anyone who will listen. He is commonly seen in a circle of men in the coffee shop, or elsewhere, relating events of the past. His stories are always spiced with a good sense of humor. Steve began writing many of his experiences down; hence this book. He and his wife, Wilma, have resided in Oregon, Alberta and the Northwest Territories. They are now retired and living in a rural area near Valleyview, Alberta.
