About the Book

Seven months have passed since Ted and Peter Smith, a pair of hard up students, took up the challenge of a local newspaper and wrote a story about their experience of staying a weekend alone in Blackingham Castle in an attempt to boost their meagre student grants. All has been well at the castle until recently when some unexplained deaths had forced the police to close the place down to the public. The boys are visited by an apparition of their friend, the late owner of Blackingham Castle and last in his family lineage, John Monkton, who leaves them a mysterious note. So begins their second and more terrifying exposure to the castle's evil inhabitants.

They enlist the help of a friendly ghost they met last time, Pike, and they embark on a perilous quest to rid the place of the evil which has made its home there over the centuries. Over the next few days the boys are put through a terrifying ordeal of encounters with the supernatural as more spirits come forward and make themselves known to the boys. They reveal their lives, their transgressions and the pain and suffering they have endured since as a result of dark deeds committed during their lifetimes. As they do so, the boys are made aware of a link between them and the Monkton family. Because of this link the boys are placed in a unique position to help these tortured souls, including Pike, find that elusive peace which has, until now, evaded them. The final battles between good and evil requires both Ted and Peter to draw deep on their reserves of courage and stand alone against the forces of darkness.
