About the Book

The author purchased a faded wedding announcement in the neighborhood thrift store for fifty cents. In that the wedding had taken place in Delaware and he found the invitation in Jacksonville, Florida some forty-five years later, he was curious to know how it could have gotten from New England to the Sunny South.

Through a series of conversations, long forgotten public records, personal letters, and interviews with military men, he reconstructs the intriguing story of Air Force Lt. John McKinney and his wife Mary Dee.

The characters encounter events that immediately establish an intimate rapport with the reader, in that they are concerned with real life. Although the story is fiction, the reader will feel a strong affinity to John and Mary Dee, Albert and Esther, Charles and Molly, Mike, little Johnny, and even the CIA, as the story unfolds.

This book tells a true story. "I thought it was fiction." It is, and you can call it fiction if you want to, but it is a true story of my life, your life, and your friends' lives. It tells about the good as well as the bad things that happen to all of us.

My purpose is to encourage you that "It ain't over till it's over." George Prom
