About the Book

The west was a new frontier. It offered hope to those that were willing to take a chance and risk their life and the lives of their families. It offered free land that was rich and ready to be farmed or to graze cattle on. To this land came many that were ready to start life again and to find a future.

Chris Donavon was one of these men. He had a dream of becoming a cattleman. Chris only wanted to live in peace, but by association of friends and events, his quest in life became a duel role. From a trail drive (to enhance a ranch with better stock from back east) his new friends drew him into law enforcement. He excelled in his new duties but failed to settle down and marry the lady he had met.

In order to escape the laws of the east, many a man came west to conceal crimes and identity, but preyed on what others had worked hard to make. They seem to gang together and for a time rampage over the land, stealing, robbing, and even murder.

The people joined together and became a territory. They formed their laws and hired lawmen to uphold them. Chris hated the violence, but did his job because there was a driving force within him pushing and encouraging making this land a place to live in peace. His use of wisdom and show of courage won him respect from many.
