About the Book

From childhood to adulthood there are many events that influence a person's life. There are good, bad and perhaps even indifferent experiences that shape the people we become in this world.

Stories of Light - Refined by Fire chronicles the world of a 29-year-old single mother of two and illustrates the brighter aspects of what most people would deem a very dark and dreary world.

Truly amazing is the ability of the author to take a seemingly normal event such as ice fishing or cleaning her son's room and turn it into an object lesson exemplifying many of the true values of Christianity and faith.

Stories of Light - Refined by Fire illustrates with grace and compassion the metaphor of God as the silversmith and each of His children a tarnished mound of metal in need of refining and sculpting.

Through stories, prayers, letters and poetry Stories of Light - Refined by Fire leads the reader back into their own times of light, their WOW moments when God seemed so close even through the darkness.

Stories of Light - Refined by Fire includes easy to read pieces and uplifting scripture passages and commentary from important people in the authors' life who have witnessed her transformation from lost soul to dearly beloved child of Christ.

Stories of Light - Refined by Fire is a true journey of strength, courage, determination, and faith sure to make you look back on your life walk with the Father or to bring you full circle into His Holy Graces.

So pull up a chair, quiet your heart and spend a little bit of time being refined.

About the Author

Born into an average Christian family, way back in the dark ages of 1976, Karrie Ann Emms had what most people would deem to be the perfect upbringing. Most would be wrong, but then who really had the storybook childhood?

Karrie is the "survivor" she has been plagued by serious illness often requiring her to spend months at a time in hospital. Throughout her teen years she struggled to fit in which often proved futile and as teenager this saw her turn to suicide, drugs and alcohol to get through. And she did get through it, hiding her true self all the way.

A gifted figure skater, writer, public speaker, artist and musician most people never knew her secrets, never saw the bottle of Silent Sam in her locker or figured out she had swallowed 100 pills before going to the rink. She was a chameleon able to hide in her surroundings.

At the age of thirteen Karrie walked into the Salvation Army Corps in Kapuskasing, ON, looked the officer in the face and said, "I don't believe in God!" Thus began a friendship made in Heaven and a process of refinement.

Now at 29, Karrie has chosen to take the negative experiences and make them positive. Faced with many challenges throughout her adult life including serious illness, single parenthood, abuse and abortion she managed to find, what she calls, her WOW moments.

Not only has she accepted Jesus Christ, but she has made a commitment to share her story with anyone who will listen hoping they too will come to recognize their WOW moments.

She is the author of Stories of Light - Refined by Fire, a book released in April of 2006 with devotional style pieces and the founder of The Stories of Light newsletter due to be unveiled in April. Karrie gives people the opportunity to share their own stories with the world in the hopes of bring people to the Lord through friendship and inspirational materials.

Karrie also founded Stories of Light and Memories, which writes personalized books for children going through serious illness or tragedy. Titles such as Butterflies from Heaven, Jenny's Wish and Coconut Catch are written and personalized for the individual child.

Karrie has stayed strong, refused to admit defeat and even when it seemed there was no hope, believed her Father in Heaven would be there. Now through her ministry given by God she shows others how they can find the light in their story.

Won't you "be refined"?
