About the Book

This is the story of a boy, born in Burlington, Vermont during the great depression, and emancipated in his seventeenth year, lived his life. Written for the benefit of his descendants, here is how one man coped with the demands of middle class life in America during the second half of the Twentieth Century and into the new millennium.

Readers of the author's generation will enjoy the stories of a boy coming of age as it was lived in pre-war America. A time of knickers, marbles, ice men, and organ grinders. Younger readers may reflect on what it was like to grow up in a world without television, cell phones, video games or jet planes. All readers will share the author's experience of working his way through college, getting married, serving in the U.S. Army, and living in the turbulent 60's and 70's. Readers may feel the hurt of divorce, the excitement of transition, the joy of remarriage, and the challenges of retirement. It's all here, supplemented by over two hundred and fifty photos, in a highly personal first person account, designed to inform and entertain.
