The Song Spinner novel received the Canadian Children’s Book Centre Choice Award. The family movie, The Song Spinner, starring Patti Lupone, John Neville and Brent Carver, was nominated for 3 Emmy awards (one for Best Writing) and the writer, Pauline Le Bel won a Cable ACE Award for Best Writing in a Children’s Special. The film also received numerous international film festival awards. The Song Spinner is also a radio drama, and a play for young people.
About the Author
Pauline Le Bel is an international award-winning writer and singer who has performed in theatres and concert halls across Canada, in the U.S. and the U.K. Reviewers called her ‰*Ïa musical instrument linked to a soul‰** and ‰*Ïa national treasure‰** for her passionate portrayal of chanteuse, Edith Piaf, in a play she co-wrote. The Song Spinner was born out of the sounds and silences of her own life, and the story is based on her screenplay which received an Emmy nomination and a Cable ACE Award for Best Writing in a Children‰*ªs Special. Pauline has also written musicals, radio dramas, songs for films, and has three CDs of her own songs, including La tendresse, sung in French. Her musical interpretation of the science-based Universe Story has delighted and inspired international audiences. For 3 years, she was Artistic Director of Voices in the Sound, an arts and nature festival she created and organized. She also gives vocal classes to help others hear the special music inside. Pauline believes in the power of music and story to shape and transform our world. She is part of a growing community working to integrate art, nature, science and spirit to support a radical transformation in human consciousness.
