The book describes a life journey, beginning with the author's childhood on an Irish small farm in the 1930s.The Ireland of that time was impoverished and struggling.Conditions were harsh and comforts were few. Little wonder that many chose to migrate to America; the majority arriving in New York and Boston. These ambitious and venturesome migrants made new and better lives for themselves. The Ireland they left behind must be of interest to the descendants of those courageous people. Are you one of those? It is the autobiography of a man who spent much of his life in Ireland before also emigrating to a far off land. On his retirement from teaching he felt compelled to write his story.
About the Author
This is the first book by the author who at present resides in the state of New South Wales, Australia with his wife, Patricia. They have no children but do have two cats, one a Burmese, the other a TurkishVan. The author enjoys an active retirement playing Bridge and Lawn Bowls. Although a naturalized Australian Citizen he has strong ties with his country of birth, Ireland. He has no immediate family in Australia but keeps in close contact with his family in Ireland. He is an avid Australian Football League (AFL) supporter and supports Collingwood because their black and white jersey remind him of the Sligo Gaelic Football Team.
