About the Book
Ernie is full of wisdom. Well, he's full of something, and he sure doesn't mind telling you about it. The Travels of Ernie began over 40 years ago. The author, Bill Janewski began these short stories to add humor to the employee newsletter for the Alberta Gas Trunkline Company ("AGTL"). Full of wit and humor himself, Bill takes common life situations and puts a twist that will make you laugh. Ernie becomes a loveable character, always full of surprises.
Whether it's in the workplace or at home, humor is the best stress reliever going. A positive attitude can keep you healthy, and there is nothing better than a good belly laugh to feel better. The Travels of Ernie is a collection of short stories that can give you that much needed belly laugh a couple minutes at a time.
The world is changing at an accelerating pace, which puts added stress on the job and in personal relationships. Humor and laughter are the cornerstones of improved communication and rapport. This is extremely important to leadership today, be it in business, the community, the church or the home. As Jeffrey Gitomer (author of The Little Red Book of Selling and many other books on sales) says, "If you can make 'em laugh, you can make 'em buy."
Make sure you have a copy of The Travels of Ernie at home and at work - and have a laugh anytime.
About the Author
William Peter Janewski was born in Edson, Alberta, and left there to begin his travels when he finished school. His work experiences were varied. "I once kept a trap-line for squirrels. Selling those pelts always gave me a little spending money." Later there was a lumber camp, a coal mine, teaching in a one-room school, and selling furniture for Timothy Eaton's. Then a 30 year career with the Alberta Gas Trunk Line (NOVA Corporation), where he held a senior management role before retiring in 1988.
Although his passion for writing began at a young age in grade school, The Travels of Ernie was born when he wrote anonymously for The Trunkliner, an employee newsletter. A strong believer in the value of humor for a healthy life, his stories have become legendary.
Bill married Ellen in 1954. They have four married children and nine grandchildren, all living in Alberta. There are fond family memories of the log cabin, north of Sundre, where laughter and good fun took place for over 20 years.
Bill and Ellen have resided in the same house in Calgary, Alberta for over 45 years. It's a warm and friendly house, where family still gathers regularly for fun and of course - a good laugh.
