About the Book

The Back Roads of My Mind is essentially a memoir of many simple acts of human kindness that the author has experienced during the past 65 years of his life. It includes vignettes of some, but by no means all, of the people who helped six children to grow to adulthood in the 1940s and 50s... all while being raised by a single mother who'd lost her husband to alcoholism in 1949.

The author began writing professionally at the age of 58, with the benefit of a smidgen of formal training, coupled with a gentle urging from family members who told him he had the ability to write for others if he chose to do so.
