About the Book

A casual scan through any daily newspaper will reveal that there is much that causes many to worry concerning the future. We see the increasing problems of global warming, threats by terrorists, criminal violence of all kinds, escalating consumption of drugs and alcohol, the break-up of stable family relationships, and the silence of the majority of the churches. World-wide there are hostilities between rival countries, and civil war within others. Vast disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, famines, epidemics, and the like have resulted in widespread death, injury, and damage. There are many other problems causing worry, fear, and even panic. Hence the title of this book, What is the world coming to?

I am convinced that the only true answer to this is found in the Bible. Contrary to what many believe, the Bible does not reveal this in the form of special codes and vague statements. The purpose of this book is to demonstrate that God has revealed considerable and systematic details of the future of this world and all that is in it. We need to approach this with an open mind and accept what He has given us. Only then, will we not be surprised by future events.

About the Author

Two separate aspects have been very important throughout my whole life. The first was my secular career commencing with an indentured apprenticeship in maintenance engineering. I also studied privately obtaining qualifications that led to the position of tool designer and later to a teaching career in Engineering. The other aspect in my life was my trust in God that He has given me new life in Christ Jesus. As a result, I became involved in Christian lay ministry.

Later, I achieved the post of Senior Lecturer in "Manufacturing Systems" in a large Polytechnic. I also continued to have increasing opportunities for systematic Bible ministry. The Polytechnic offered the opportunity of improving my qualifications and as a result I obtained B.Sc. (Econ)., M.Sc.(Eng)., Ph.D., D.I.C. At that time I did not appreciate that these qualifications were not primarily for me to use for my own advantage, but they became an essential background for a deeper understanding of Bible Prophecy. What I did not realise at the time, was that my academic studies which covered a wide range of subjects such as industrial economics, labour control, political control and influences over industry, have given me an important background into many of the problems prevalent in the world today. Together with my Christian background, they have helped me understand many of the Prophesies concerned with the situations today. J.J.W.
