About the Book

After Jennifer's grandfather, her best friend, dies in the year 2006, she is devastated. She roams aimlessly through their house, dragging her feet, unable to tear her thoughts to the future from the past. When this goes on too long, Jennifer's mother has a brilliant idea: send her to Scotland! Send her to Uncle Wilver, her great-uncle - Grandpa's brother. Since they are both Merlin aficionados, her mother hopes the two of them being together might lighten Jennifer's mood, and help her to see a more bright future that lies ahead.

The adventure, the Quest, begins.

A disheveled, comical Uncle Wilver appears with tattered prize in hand, emerging from the train station garbage bin. This is Jennifer's first encounter with her eccentric uncle. It is here that Jennifer's own Quest becomes to keep sane in this new world she's been thrown into: this new life, with Uncle Wilver.

On their journey to find Merlin's actual cave, she learns how to make clouds disappear, dream while awake, and a lot of other neat real stuff during her romps through the Scottish highlands. She also becomes a pilgrim-wizard, in learning Merlin's "Quest Rules." Ian, Uncle Wilver's youthful friend, is a member of both their quests, as a pragmatic voice for reason, "They must see the world as it is, not as they dream it."

Will Jennifer believe in Wilver's dream? Or will she be swayed by Ian's "good sense"? All she knows is, while she's in this mess, she may as well learn all Merlin's power - the power to make her dreams come true. And, of course, to be happy.

The Cave awaits...
