About the Book

The story To Save My Son began the day he told me he was going to quit drinking. He knew that his body could no longer take this destructive lifestyle. Don chose to live. At that moment the struggle to stay alive began. Our doctor told Don he had potentially two months to live. These two months would be very painful. No mother wants to hear those words. I could not accept that, so the search for help to save Don's life began. Every day was a challenge that only could be lead by God. We were blessed to have several caring professionals aid us along this journey. It is impossible to describe what each day was like. It is difficult to express in words the emotions and experiences of this time. This story is my attempt to share the words that are in my heart. Many days were spent rushing to the hospital by car or by ambulance. Confusion took over Don's mind. His body swelled with fluid, making it hard for him to breath. We struggled for months as Don's liver ceased to function and we waited in anticipation for help.

Endless tests had to be done in preparation for the possibility of a liver transplant. Don's strength and determination were inspiring. My husband and I dedicated every day to this life saving journey. My prayer is that this book will help save someone from the destruction of alcohol.

About the Author

In our time on earth we have no way of knowing what circumstances we will encounter. Each of us have trials that we must deal with in the best way we can. With the help of God I did just that.

My husband and I will celebrate our Fifty-Sixth wedding anniversary in September 2007. We have four children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

I was a stay at home mom for many years. As the children grew up I ventured into the retail business. I owned a beauty salon, then a ladies clothing store, and eventually opened a mini-mall including ladies clothes, shoes, children's clothes, kitchen and bath accessories, and colour and cosmetic consultation services. This was an exciting time in my life. We live in a small town and the store became the focal point for many ladies in the surrounding areas. The only experience I had in writing was for newspaper advertising and fashion show commentaries.

I was retired by the time Don was in need of my help to battle alcoholism and dedicated every moment to save my son. This experience brought me the greatest reward possible. I felt the need in my heart to tell our story. Praying that it will help someone to know how destructive alcohol can be and to please seek help if you are on this path, do not wait until it is too late.
