About the Book

Harrison's Heir is the sequel to In Her Mother's Footsteps and continues the saga of the Bordoni family. Tommie has been left the farm at Dalesport by his father Ken Harrison and strives to continue the success that the farm had achieved over the years. He lives alone and, because his trust in women has been shattered, firstly by his mother and then by his older sister, he has promised himself that he will never marry. When he meets Eve Kelly he is smitten but manages to persuade himself that he is not in love with her. He dates Eve for a few months and then finishes with her.

Eve is heart broken and after her father is murdered she decides to date her neighbour Podge Hodgins. She does not love Podge but feels that he will help her get over Tommie so she decides to accept his proposal of marriage. She is happy for a few years but then her thoughts start to ramble back to her first love. After a row in the pub with her husband she seeks out Tommie and in her drunken state admits that she still loves him. Tommie had now realised that he also loves Eve and so they begin an affair that is to last for a number of years. Podge, being the jealous, possessive husband that he is eventually suspects his wife's infidelity and when she finally breaks down and admits that she has been seeing Tommie he races to the Manor armed with a shot gun. In the struggle that follows it is Podge who remains on the ground and Tommie is imprisoned for murder.

Eve cannot bear to see her lover behind bars especially as he seems to be losing the will to live so she hires the best lawyer that money can by and orders a retrial.

Meanwhile Tommie has indeed given up the will to live and an incident in his cell finally breaks him down. He is delighted to escape from prison but will he still want to marry Eve?

Tommie's struggle with his emotions and his past deter him from the life that he would like to live and he prays that he has not left it too late to tell Eve that he really does love her.
