About the Book

In her 40's, Bernadette was diagnosed with breast cancer. After the reality set in, she had to make the hard decision of whether or not to receive radiation and chemo-therapy. Once she became one of the many cancer survivors, she took inventory of her life, something that prompted her to go in another direction where her career was concerned. Bernadette was challenged even further when her husband became sick with heart failure. But, she didn't give in to despair. Like a brave soldier, she marched onto another chapter of her life and because of her wise decisions, a lot of people were helped to deal with the ugly face of cancer.

Even the lonely widower Benson began to feel his heart of stone melting at the sight of Bernadette. He was also made to realize that God can be an important part of our lives. The degree of acceptance is up to each individual. If we look for the ligh at the end of the tunnel, we will find it.

About the Author

I finished writing this book just before Christmas 2004 and was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. After two years, I can say that yes, there is life after cancer, although it leaves a permanent mark on your character and also on your soul.

For the time being, I'm one of the many cancer survivors and very thankful for my recovery. I believe that writing this book prepared me for what lay ahead. Although my body is weaker, I am now a stronger person spiritually, something that prompted me to start writing another book called "Drawn to the light."

A portion of this book's proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Research Foundation, in the hope of speeding the cure.
