About the Book
Illustrated with testimonies from the author’s foreign or second language teaching work experience, the book presents a theoretical framework for diverse foreign or second language teaching approaches used today and many procedures to improve language teaching.
On the theoretical level, the book describes five major trends or paradigms in foreign and second language didactics, emphasizing the radical paradigm, the most recent and less known trend.
On the practical level, suggested procedures and techniques describe what can be done before, during and after a foreign or second language lesson.
About the Author
Pierre Demers holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Montreal. For many years, he has been working in English and French teaching areas as an administrator, consultant, facilitator, professor, researcher and teacher. He worked in several Canadian provinces and overseas, from elementary to university levels. He published and delivered several papers and gave numerous workshops on language teaching. Member of the First Nations of Canada, Pierre Demers taught, among other things, English, French and Literacy to Bush People, adults born and raised in the Canadian taiga. He is currently a language education consultant for the Cree School Board in Northern Quebec.
