About the Book

Where is my Teddy Bear is a true tragedy. It is very sad and shows the pain that can be inflicted on others because of drinking and driving. It goes to show how one minute we can be a happy united young family and in a second its all taken away from us.

The second part of the book deals with the author's own thoughts and feelings on several different topics that are of great concern to her. This part was written with reflections on the author's experience with her Canadian ESL students and the Children Aid Society. Here are some examples of her thoughts:

"War is the thorn in our world today."

"Hate is a fast acting poison, to forgive is a cure."

"We all belong to the brotherhood of humanity."

"Why do some of us refer to a country as a third world."

"I always thought we had ONE WORLD."

(Homida)

About the Author

I ask my wife Homida why she wanted to write this book and her reply was- "I hope and pray that no one ever experience the many different tragedies I have had in my life." If she were to relate all her tragedies she would surely need the help of a linguistic as we are both not really qualified for such a task. My wife was brought up in a very loving, moderate muslim home, attended a private Christian convent for girls during her high school years. Her father was a prominent lawyer who died when she was just seven, her mother remarried seven years later to an accountant. Her hobbies are fashion designing, interior decorating, painting and singing. She did some nursing in England. Received great satisfaction teaching Literacy and English as a second language to newly, landed, adult immigrants in Canada but indicated to me many times that the job that concerned her the most and carried a heavy weight in her heart was when she became a foster parent for the Children's Aid Society for a very short while. Reading and writing were never one of her strong suits but when she became very ill in 1995 and began receiving home care she started randomly to write her own thoughts and feelings. In reading her book she hopes no one thinks that she has abandoned her rooted religion "Islam." She just has a different concept of it all and sees great beauty in all religions. Homida has managed to live through the storms in her life with a positive attitude and bears no ill will to anyone who has hurt her in the past. She feels life is too short and there is no room in her heart for retaliation for as she rightly states:- "Revenge adds stress to our lives, it destroys the love in our hearts and our souls grieve for we are all placed on this beautiful earth to be happy and to flourish as God intended."
