About the Book

This story is one of survival for Brigid in Coventry in 1957, where she was housed by the City Council; (A City torn by war). The story is tinged with sadness, ill health and hard work. There is also amusing events. Brigid was no stranger to hardship and was delighted with the large house that had been derelict for sometime. With her limited experience of D.I.Y. she soon made the house habitable, taking in boarders to make a living. She worked in Hospitals, Restaurants and as a Home Help for Social Services, to make ends meet.

Her children were placed in Catholic Schools until they eventually went on to work themselves. Now married and settled down with children of their own.

Brigid brings us some of the History of Coventry in the 50's; the kindness and support of people. How she overcame problems, turning her hand to any jobs available; overcoming tragedies and illness that plagued her. She is still writing from her impressive, sheltered accommodation in Bonds Hospital, Hill Street, Coventry.

About the Author

Brigid Patricia Boggan was born in Waterford, Southern Ireland in 1925. Her first Book; Five Children, Five Cases, Five Pounds was published in 2006. Her Second book; River Factory Tales she published in 2007.

She had Convent education and left school at the age of 15 to work in the Clover Meat Factory in Waterford.

Married at 18 she went on to have 6 children, 2 of which are deceased. She immigrated to England with her children in 1956. She now has 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The story Never Had It So Good completes her autobiography. Brigid now lives in Sheltered Accommodation in Coventry, a great City to which this book pays tribute.
