About the Book
When a columnist predicting a nationwide economic takeover is murdered, Senator Hamilton starts a search for conspiring corporation heads. He sends top assistant Sophie Woznicki to enlist the help of Bradley Morrison James, a trusted CEO of a large corporation.
Brad is attracted to the feisty and alluring Sophie, but is loyal to his wife, Marion. But Marion has known her employer longer than she had known her husband and has been in love with both men for years. When Brad discovers Marion’s duplicity, they agree upon divorce. As Brad and Sophie work together, they become increasingly fond of each other.
Brad and Sophie hunt for clues, and Brad hires the creative private investigator, Patrick McEnglund, to assist them in their search for evidence. Money laundering and rampant bribery are traced back to five heads of major corporations, known by certain underworld figures as the “Naples Five.” Little doubt remains that these men are secretly plotting to take control of the economy of the United States.
The conspirators naively hire a crime syndicate to do their dirty work and then another collection of criminals to control the first. The second crew has ties to a blood-thirsty terrorist cell. When the Naples Five learn that they are being investigated by Brad and Sophie, both sets of enforcers are unleashed to eliminate them.
Senator Hamilton, Sophie, Brad and Patrick continue their investigation amidst kidnappings, wild chases, shootings, and explosions with little chance of surviving, much less capturing the criminals.
