About the Book
“I Been There Already - And Didn’t Like It” is a WWII soldier’s journey from a naive draftee to a battle hardened officer. In the tropical New Guinea jungles, Shadie Simon and his soldiers engaged Japanese troops in areas inhabited only by natives who had never seen white men. His unit also fought Japanese troops in Luzon in the Philippine Islands; and later trained as assault troops for the invasion of the Japanese Islands before the Japanese military surrendered.
About the Author
Shadie Simon was drafted into the military and served as a combat officer in the Pacific Theater. From 1944 until 1950, he was an officer in one of General MacArthur’s forces in New Guinea, the Philippines, and then served as a member of his occupation forces in Japan. He retired 29 years later in 1973 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
