About the Book
The newspaper photograph was an old one, taken during the Second World War. It was an innocent snapshot of a handsome young man in his new lieutenant’s uniform. The accompanying article told of his heroism as a British agent within the French Resistance. Side-by-side was a contemporary photograph of the same man, now a distinguished elderly gentleman, a retired Cabinet Minister and venerated senior politician.
However, for one aged couple, the image of that young man rekindles horrific memories of wartime France. They recognise him, not as a brave British soldier, but as an unknown member of a German team responsible for the brutal destruction by torture and death of a French resistance group. Now the man’s true identity is revealed to them together with the shocking fact that he was a traitor who had lied to protect his political ambitions. But where is the proof?
Here is the story of how the elderly couple together with their beautiful granddaughter strive to see justice done. It tells of love across the generations and the resurrection of old treacheries which darken the present with their long shadow…
