About the Author

Sylvia Allen is President of Allen Consulting, a sponsorship and marketing organization based in Holmdel, NJ. Some of the words her colleagues have used to describe her include "tireless, passionate, tenacious, and energetic". Celebrating 32 years in business in 2010, Allen Consulting has provided public relations, event marketing/management services and sponsorship sales for a variety of community-based clients as well as such national and international clients as The Money Pit Home Improvement radio show and the Iditarod. Allen taught at New York University for 20 years as well as all over the world, teaching people about sponsorships. She is the author of several books including A Woman's Guide To Sales Success and How To Be Successful At Sponsorship Sales. She has published hundreds of articles on sponsorship and marketing for major publications such as Main Street News, Radio And Records, Radio Ink, and Sports Travel, as well as for the International Festivals And Events Association and First Night International. She has presented seminars around the world, including The Asia Forum in Singapore, The Second Annual China Festival and Events Conference in Shanghai, The Asia Forum in Malaysia and the Women's Forum in Okinawa, Japan as well as countless seminars throughout the United States and Canada. In 2003, after visiting Africa, she formed her own 501(c)3 organization called Sylvia's Children (www.sylviaschildren.org) to help impoverished children in Uganda.
