About the Author
C. Marques Smith attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA, during his time there he was a 4-year letterman in football. While poetry had already settled in his soul by the time he arrived in the ATL, this is where his poetry was nurtured and ultimately came to life. C. Marques Smith's biggest literary influences are Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni , Paul Laurence Dunbar, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Hill Harper. Each of these poets/writers possesses a very unique and alluring style of writing that has not only influenced his work but has also inspired him to follow his dream of writing. C. Marques Smith aspires to follow in the footsteps of these great pioneers of not just African-American literature, but the literary community as a whole. In addition to writing, his interests are sports, reading, cooking, technology and spending time with his family and friends. He is a Corporate Sales Manager for a national telecommunications company and currently resides in the beautiful city of Lakeland, Florida.
