About the Book

This is the story of life in this great country called America, through the eyes of one simple black girl... me. My experiences, perspective, growth, and how God has molded and shaped me. It is my personal journey through triumphs and failures, love and heartbreak, incredible opportunities and the resilience of the human heart to hope against hope.

About the Author

I have always loved books, writing and words. In Ms. Johnsons 10th grade English class, I was told that I was great with words and there was never any looking back...I had found my calling. While attending Ball State University, I worked on the award-winning, students run publication, Expo Magazine. I graduated with a Journalism degree and have contributed to a few books and coauthored the book Destination Transformation with my fellow Biggest Loser teammates. This book has been almost four years in the making. It is deeply personal...my life on paper. There were months when I couldn't write and days when I could do nothing but write. My reason for writing this book was to inspire anyone who has ever been down and out, wanted to quit or thought that they couldn't rise above their circumstances. It is for the common people. I wanted to tell the story of what God has done for a little black girl in America, and by doing so, help people imagine what He can do for them. I lived in Denver, Colorado for the past 13 years and currently reside in Georgia. I love anything cultural or good old fashioned fun, like board games, corn mazes and touring Christmas lights on a hayride. Spinning class, water aerobics and boxing are my sanity. I'm a hopeless romantic and love nothing as much as spending time with great friends and good food.
