Then, I recognized that certain traits had been carefully hand picked to be passed on from generation to generation such as the constant state of feeling inadequate and to make things up. After all, if there are holes in the story make up your own to cover those inadequacies. There was also the skill to pass on your own state of confusion and misery to others, and the ability to act like nothing was out of the ordinary leaving everyone around you to believe it was their problem and not yours. As kids, when we imagined all the things in the mirror, we did it with joy and pleasure and for not a single moment did we ever feel like we were falling short with the image we saw in the mirror. As we grew older, the image became the face that drove us. It became an image that we were less than satisfied with, or it became an image that we had to tidy up before we could show it to others lest they be not impressed. The curly hair or straight hair or blue eyes and all the other individual attributes were as different in each of us as was the purpose that God put in each of us. How many of us were rebellious to how we were made…to how we were created…were we also being rebellious to why we were created? Did you ever look in the mirror and think you had to change your image to make an impression with God?

Trust "ME" and Die is a book full of real-life situations and corresponding commentaries that relate to the author’s years of heartburn and headaches. People will understand and relate to his experiences and the same truths will stare them in the face. We are not ever alone or lost unless we choose to be. If we live our lives as “I,” or “ME” alone, the results are painful at best and lead down the path of total self-destruction and a permanent place in the abyss. There are so many self-help books out there today and they all have a purpose and an audience. For the author, writing this book opened his wounded heart and it allowed him to get his story out there. By writing down his story and sharing it with others, he realized just how many people had hidden a lifetime of pain inside. If he can find daylight at the end of the tunnel, so can anyone else. If his book serves to help other people to open up and heal as well, it has served its purpose. May God bless us all!

Frederick Sprigg serves as a pastor of a small church. Every Sunday, he has the blessing of standing before the people that have come to hear him share with them what he has learned during the past week.
