Between the Gates of Heaven and Hell

All alone and discontented I left the party around one that night; and as I journeyed up the stairs to my bedroom I heard the cries of my sister in her room. It sounded like my father was trying to kill her but her cries were like none that I’ve ever heard before. The shrieks that she made pierced deep into my soul and scratched my flesh. I could not take it, I tried to open the door but it was locked. But the cry of my sister was eating at me I had to get into that room. Somehow I found the strength to kick the door off of it hinges and barge into the room. When I got into the room I froze as if Medusa herself had stared deep into my soul. My sister’s clothes were torn and her face was bruised beyond belief. I could not believe what I was seeing. He had tried to rape her, my father was a monster. Something inside of me snapped and I charged at my father with murderous intent. Never before had I struck my father but now here I was beating him with no mercy on my sister’s bedroom floor.
