About the Book

Huey, a young eagle in the Gulf of Alaska, has an accident that injures his foot. On the small island near Kodiak, a man named Dave comes to his rescue. He protects Huey from the animals that see the helpless, injured eagle as prey. He leaves food for Huey in his yard. Gradually, the young eagle begins to heal and to realize that this man is his friend.

When he next returns to visit Dave, he brings a female eagle with him. She learns of the kindness of Dave, his family, and his pets first hand. The eagles develop a rare and fond relationship with Dave and his family that becomes an important and unique part of all their lives.

Now Huey has a son that he wants to introduce to Dave. Th e eagle family returns to the small island where the young eagle is scared and also curious. Th e young eagle does not know what to expect, but he trusts his father. Join this eagle family as they make the journey to see their human friends.


About the Author

Judy Leinberger was born in Percy, Illinois; she received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Illinois State University. For over thirty years, she and her husband lived and worked in Kotzebue, Barrow, Point Hope, Atqasuk, Ouzinkie, Anchorage, and Bethel in Alaska. Now both retired, they live in Mesquite, Nevada.
