About the Author
David Dedi, a poet and writer, was born in Yei, Sudan, in the early eighties following the onset of the Second Sudanese Civil War. His family fled the country, and he enrolled in school and obtained most of his primary and secondary education in Uganda and Kenya. He is currently completing his BA in anthropology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, where he migrated to in 2006. He started writing poetry and short stories during his high school years at Maseno School, Kenya. As a young boy, he was captivated by Chinua Achebe’s novel, Things Fall Apart; it inspired him to become a poet, author, and scholar. His poems have since been published online and performed to great acclaim from different audiences in Canada. Borrowing Fire is his first book to be published in print.
