About the Book
To thine own self be true...
With these stories we are providing a forum for women’s voices; a way for women to
see each other as role models and mentors, and to say,
“Hey, she did it. With hard work, I can too.”
We also see this book as a way of redefining success.
Women have often relied on the male view of success, which can centre on money and
fame. These count for women, but they aren’t the only things we value. Nor do they
alone define our success. Being able to combine work and home, being proud of
raising a family and still holding down a career, expressing our
creativity in whatever ways God intended...these too are success.
This book is dedicated to all of the women who have gone before us who have fulfilled
their lives but whose stories have not been heard. They’ve worn many hats and still
found the time and strength to do the things that they like most. The old expression,
“Men build houses, women make homes” no longer holds true.
Women can now do both.
About the Author
KAYE PARKER
By traditional measures, Kaye
Parker has been successful as
a mother, a schoolteacher, a
public relations practitioner in
public tourism venues, and a
corporate trainer and facilitator.
Like the women in this book,
Kaye has her own defi nition of
success. In Kaye’s case success
is measured by the positive
infl uence she has had on all
those lives she has touched. At
home, she instilled confi dence
and courage in her children. In
the schoolroom she encouraged
young students to blossom. In
the tourism industry, she created
excitement around history and
culture. Now, in the corporate
training world, Kaye inspires
participants to be engaged in
the classroom and motivated to
succeed in their workplace.
Never has Kaye lost her thirst
for learning. She successfully
earned her Accreditation in Public
Relations, her Certifi cation as
a Human Resource Professional
and most recently her designation
as a Certifi ed Speaking
Professional.
