About the Book

Thirteen-year-old Rowan has just won a contest at a music festival and has been awarded a platinum flute when he suddenly finds himself magically transported to a new world—one in which his music seems to hold great power. He is transported to the world of Tyme, a place that was once controlled by powerful rulers known as the Sandz. Over years of peaceful coexistence, they learned every aspect of life and every concept of being, down to the fine art of time itself—until a curse from an evil sea hag named Swayne puts them into a deep sleep for one hundred years. Rowan frees all but one of them with his music—and only then does his adventure truly begin. In order to help the world of Tyme, Rowan must work to free the remaining king, Doregaan, the Crystal Wizard. To do so he must journey through a land of unicorns, dragons, faeries, and wizards in a place where things are not always as they appear. In this fantasy novel for young readers, a boy with a magical flute must rescue a wizard from a century-old curse as he learns how to live in a strange land called Tyme.
