“MAMA, ‘Babe’ and Me”

The book “Mama “Babe” and Me” is brief chronology of a family. It highlights a mother her daughter, the writer. There are intimate details about their lives and experiences from childhood to adulthood. It also includes brief genealogies of families that were connected to them, for the generations alive now and those yet to come to know about. It tells the story of a mother who was an adventurous Christian woman. A woman who learned to love and have faith in God, as well as demonstrates for others, by her own life, what that meant. She was married three times, giving birth to two children from the first union, ten from the second union and one from the third. She was physically abused by the first one, loved and worked by the second and given only a quarter, twenty –five cents, by the third to travel from Texas to Denver, Colorado and on to Los Angeles, California and back to Texas again! The writer is a person who has had many experiences that would seem unbelievable, from having the accent of her voice change from a Texas brogue to a foreign one. A person who was able to not only survive three stokes and still be an avid walker who attempts to do about five miles a day. She is quite active in many community activities. She also includes a section of eulogies from the children and grandchildren about Mama Babe. An interesting read!
