This book is a query into minds of men, evil beings and God in a collection of stories of sometimes secret thoughts buried deep in their narrator's hearts. The stories are told by many: In a Chicago bar, in college classrooms, in a bus in Milwaukee, in a restaurant in Atlanta, in an airplane next to a polymer chemist, in dreams, or brilliant engineers bringing working metaphors to the forefront of theological or philosophical understanding. Some stories depict the male mind, others tell of outer body experiences or the mind in love, and minds interacting with other minds or captive in a world of illusion and mystical visions or otherwise regimented by the practical minds of the lawyer or scientist. My hope is you the reader of these accounts, finds one story that makes you think, for in thinking, no matter how painful for better or worse, is one of the greatest things you can do.

What is the human mind? What is its template? The mind reveals itself in what it does. Do not to ask what the mind is but ask what it does and be not preoccupied how it does it. A piece of wood with metal attach to one end does not tell us the nature of the hammer. But driving a nail with such a metal/wood object reveals the nature of the hammer. So it is with the mind. Its nature is revealed in what it does. But who is the human mind? Is it your being or your features? Three hundred an fifty stories bring us closer to the answer. The mind is put to work because we are drawn inexorably into the future and always with a degree of uncertainty: sometimes watchful, other times unaware of what will happen next and many times not wanting to know. The purpose of the mind is to know what will happen next.
About the Author
Dr. Pilling holds a B.S. degree in English literature from Marquette University as well as a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, a M.S. and PhD in Electrical Engineering degrees from San Jose State University and the University of California at Santa Barbara, respectively. He held positions as a design and research engineer with Standard Oil of California, Fairchild Semiconductor, Advanced Micro Devices and Integrated Device Technology, sequentially for the last forty-nine years, and holds thirty-four patents. The author compiled 350 stories drawing from the rich experience of many people from world wide travel, four college degrees, six children, seventeen grand children, married to the same woman for fifty three years and continuously employeed in design for forty nine years holding 34 patents.
