About the Book

This book is about a seventeen year old ex carrier named Calvin Wilkins who is trying to straighten his life around because of the recent pregnancy of his girlfriend. After getting into some trouble, he is now staying with his girlfriend Briana, her mother Yvette Parker, her sister Keisha Parker, and grandma Miss Gloria. Besides Briana, Miss Gloria is the only other person in the house that likes Calvin. Struggling with his drug problem, his brother being released from juevnile hall and adapting to a new life with the Parkers, Calvin is learning how to change for the better and that even though hustle is neccessary, being responsible and showing discipline is what makes you a man.

My name is Cecil Jarrell Dowden and I was born on February 23, 1986. I was born and raised in Sardis, MS and my parents names are Cecil Gene and Earnestine Dowden. My hobbies includes writing, watching television, rapping with my friends, playing basketball, going out, and playing video games. Every since I was six, I had a creative mind and I love to write because I feel that writing takes you to different places and using your imagination can bring out your creativity. I love to write poetry, books, and plays. Tyler Perry is the biggest influence on me because of his talented work on plays and that is what I want to do write my plays. I want people is see my vision and I want to tell different stories that people can relate too. I am a fun-loving guy who gets along with everybody and wants to find success in life by writing because writing is my passion and becoming a famous playwright/author/filmmaker is a dream that I have always had and wants to make my dream a reality.
